Does anyone really think a dead Jew is going to come back to earh in glory and triumph?

Isn't this nothing more than wishful thinking on the part of sad and unsuccessful people who know their lives are meaningless, and hope that by 'believing' they will, at some time, be recognized for their 'accomplishment' of believing in a story for which there is no evidence or external validation?
