Can I scotchguard knit Ugg boots?

I'd like to buy the cream colored UGG� Australia 'Clic Argyle' Sweater Knit Boots, but I'm afraid they will be terribly hard to keep clean. I was thinking I may be able to scotchguard them in order to avoid problems. Thoughts?! Experiences?! Thanks!
